Happy Couples

Acting sensation Karthi married Ranjini at the CODISSIA trade fair complex in Coimbatore this morning at about 6.30 am. It was a traditional Kongu wedding held in the presence of family and friends. Karthi was garbed in a traditional white pattu veshti and shirt and Ranjini was resplendent in a golden kanchivaram silk sari with yellow and orange overtones. Her look was complemented by typical South Indian bridal accoutrements like huge jhumkas, odiyanam, netri chutti, and gold jewelry.

Guests started arriving from 4.00 am and the groom's parents along with his brother Suriya and his wife Jyothika were on hand to welcome them. The wedding hall was done up in elegant style by Chandrasekar decorations, Chennai. Green, gold and silver were the colors used and the effect was offset by thousands of fresh flowers like orchids, roses, carnations, and gerberas. The place looked superbly classy. There was a circular mandap and decorated columns with trailing strands in crystal which caught the light magnificently.

Before the wedding rituals began, there was a formal recitation of Thevaram, Thiruvachagam, and Periya Puranam by the Manikavasagar Arulpani Mandram troupe led by P. Kumaralingam. It was a fine nod to the glorious heritage of the Tamil people. Following this the wedding rituals commenced and included kaikorvai, which is a ritual that signifies the bonding of two families via marital ties and mangala vaazhthu. And then the father of the groom, Sivakumar handed the sacred thali to his son who then placed it around the neck of his bride.

It was a beautiful and moving ceremony. Celebs who graced the occassion were Prabhu, Rajesh, Pandiarajan, Nizhalgal Ravi, Siddharth, Saravanan, Nagma, KS Ravikumar, Hari, Bala, Suseendhiran, and Manobala. All the guests were given mementos and in an innovative touch posies of magnolia, tulasi, and vaagai.

The guests were treated to a delicious catered South Indian meal. Karthi's fans numbering about 3500 were also provided with lunch. It was a lovely ceremony and the traditional wedding Karthi and his parents wanted
